Hack Umass VI

Worked with a small team of computer science and computer engineering students to design a remote light switch and curtain opener with desktop application in Java to help make dorm life easier for UMass students. Led the development of the GUI and attempted to link the application over Bluetooth to a Raspberry Pi operating the motor.

RPGChess

Uses java.awt and javax.swing as GUI. RPGChess is a game that I am working on independently to be similar to chess (a beloved classic) that I wanted to make more complex and modern.

The game features 5 selectable classes (caster, ranged, warrior, rogue, and champion) and 15 different playable characters for a player vs. player turn based chess-style rpg game. Players will select which pieces they want to use in the game and play an opponent to level the pieces up and unlock improved stats and abilities. In the game, move your pieces around the board on your turn and attack your opponent's pieces until they have none remaining.

CS220 Projects

Image Manipulation

2 Projects for CS220 to implement image manipulation methods in JavaScript to blur images, filter by color channel, highlight edges, black and white, etc. First implemented through arrays and then redone with higher order functions like Map, Filter, and Reduce.

Matchmaking

Project for CS220 to use JavaScript to implement and test the stability of the Gale-Shapley matchmaking algorithm on a set of companies and candidates based on their preferences. Created tests to confirm the stability of the algorithm and that it returns correct result.

Data Wrangling with JSON

Project for CS220 to use topics learned in class such as fluentfilters and higher order functions to create a filering tool for restaurants in the Yelp dataset in JSON format. Created tests to ensure successful return for each function.

Interpreter

Project for CS220 to write a basic interpreter for a small amount of JavaScript in JavaScript. Were provided a parser function and implemented functions for evaluating expressions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, boolean expressions, etc. Interpreter also works for basic blocks, statements, and mini programs.

Rapidly-Exploring Random Trees

Project for CS220 to implement helper functions in JavaScript to assist a RRT algorithm in finding collision-free paths in 2-dimensional space.

CS230 Projects

Connect Four

Project for CS230 to implement a connect four game in C and create a simple AI to play against the player. Used a variant of the Min-Max algorithm to determine AI moves based on the board state and selected most optimal move. Printed formatted board to console after every move and saved moves to history.

Text Adventure

Project for CS230 to implement a text adventure game in C in a group of 3. Created a map with the objective of visiting each room and using an item to solve the bigger puzzle and win. Used data structures in C to implement rooms and items and makefile to easily recompile code.

WordFreak

Project for CS230 to create a program in C to parse through large text files and count/store how many times every word appeared in the text and then print the totals to the console. Made use of File IO and limited System Calls as well as environmental variables, piping, command line arguments, and keeping track of memory usage.

Threads and Synchronization

Project for CS230 to implement a program using threads and semaphores in C to simulate a ticket ordering call center with 5 lines and 3 operators so that any number of callers can call and wait until they connect to operator and buy a ticket.

Math Bot

Project for CS230 to write a computer networking client to connect to remote server in C and automatically answer a series of math problems by sending and recieving problems and solutions to the server until we are sent a flag that indicates the end of the program.

CS326 Project

TuneRater

Media analysis Website. One thing we found very interesting is how differently the news is reported amongst media companies. For example, Fox News favors everything that Donald Trump does and paints a very likable picture of him whereas MSNBC does the exact opposite. This results in a massive polarization amongst the populace of a country which is not healthy for a democracy. How news is reported differs in countries also. While it is very difficult to filter through these headlines and get the actual news, we thought there could be a good middle ground. We can, through the use of sentiment analysis, find how different governments are represented in a certain country's media. With this website, we want users to search up a media company and should be able to view: bais rating, reliability score and list of entities/topics which the media company talks about

A project for CS326. Worked in group of 3 to create a music listening and rating website using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Node.js, MongoDB, TypeScript, , Express, jquery, Bootstrap templates to create a server and database to upload and store music information.

In the modern world there are not a lot of easy to find and free resources for help in such areas and it can be difficult to figure out what you are missing if you don't know what to look for. 30DaysCoding features a simple organization and easy to use UI that keeps users motivated to keep working with a day to day plan of topics to cover as well as an additional interview guide to help teach about the interview process.

The site launched late March 2020 and has had several thousand pageviews. I am helping a peer, Aryan Singh, to work on the site and interview guides.

CS589 Projects

EleNa: Elevation-based Navigation

Navigation systems optimize for the shortest or fastest route. However, they do not consider elevation gain. Let’s say you are hiking or biking from one location to another. You may want to literally go the extra mile if that saves you a couple thousand feet in elevation gain. Likewise, you may want to maximize elevation gain if you are looking for an intense yet time-constrained workout.

The high-level goal of this project is to develop a software system that determines, given a start and an end location, a route that maximizes or minimizes elevation gain, while limiting the total distance between the two locations to x% of the shortest path.

CS383 Projects

Search Algorithms

Project for CS383 to create agents to find a goal state on a gridworld graph using Breadth First Search, Depth First Search, Greedy Best First Search, Uniform Cost Search, A* Search, and compare the results.

Minimax, Alpha-Beta Pruning, and CSP

Project for CS383 to implement an AI in python to use the Minimax algorithm, depth limits, alpha-beta pruning, and several different heuristics to play Isola. Tracked runtime of the agents and win/loss ratios. Used python constraint satisfaction problems to solve sudoku puzzles and course scheduling problems.

Clustering and Classification

Project for CS383 to use scikit-learn library in Python to implement k-means clustering on Congressional Votes dataset. Also created a classification program to build a tree based on the same dataset.
